Rostec promises to deliver first MC-21 with PD-14 engines in 2024
MOSCOW, Apr 13 (PRIME) -- The first six MC-21 aircraft with the Russia-made PD-14 engines will be delivered to the customers in 2024, Sergei Chemezov, state industrial corporation Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov told the parliament’s upper chamber Federation Council on Wednesday.
“The first mass-produced MC-21 in the amount of six units with the national engine PD-14 will be delivered to customers in 2024,” he said.
He also said that production of Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft with the component parts whose imports were completely substituted and with the PD-8 engine should start in 2024. Rostec plans to produce 20 SSJ100s per year, he said.
The anti-Russian sanctions of the U.S. and the West have hurt Russia’s promising aviation project developed in different political and economic conditions.
“We will need additional time to implement full imports substitution and to conduct necessary tests of new systems and equipment,” he said.
